The White Lion Hotel

With origins dating back 500 years to 1510 and old timbers exposed in the brasserie and some of the rooms, a lovely ambience is created that allows you to relax and enjoy the same hospitality enjoyed many years ago by the likes of Prince Rupert and General Massey during the English Civil War.

The White Lion Hotel has been brought up to date with modern yet traditional furnishings that complement this fine old lady of the High Street.

We have free Wi Fi, Cask ales and extensive menus that we feel go beyond our AA rosette standard both lunch time and dinner with a quality wine list to complement your meal. “The Rose Room” and “The Wild Goose Room”, two rooms made famous for their inclusion in Henry Fielding’s book “The History of Tom Jones A Foundling” are still in use today. We feel, like our previous guests, that once you have enjoyed our hospitality you will want to return time and time again.

The White Lion Hotel is best placed for visiting Malvern, Cheltenham, Worcester and Gloucester. Upton has a lot to offer for such a small town, with its riverside activities, Marina, Music Festivals like Jazz, Folk, Blues and a retro & pop music festival. Convenient for The Three Counties Showground with its many shows throughout the year just a short drive away. We are the only Hotel in town with a car park and a creditation assessed by The AA to Three Star One Rosette Standard.
